CSP membership offers a wide range of benefits designed to support you at every stage of your career.
As part of our member recruitment month, we’re sharing personal stories from members who have experienced firsthand the value of being part of our 65,000-strong community.
Chartered member Mariah Joseph, rotational physiotherapist, Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust said: 'Following a meeting with CSP staff in Bedfordshire, I became a chartered member to pursue a CSP steward role.
The skills I have gained as a CSP steward have enabled me to progress to a band 6 role as a rotational physiotherapist.
'I will continue to advocate for CSP members at my trust and for the profession through CSP events and opportunities.'
Chartered member Vijay Selvaraj, therapy manager, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust said: 'When I moved to the UK, I needed support to adapt to a new healthcare system. The CSP helped me with job applications, interview preparation, and connecting with local peer groups, which was critical in those early stages of my career.
Since then, the CSP has supported me in initiating and chairing a special interest group that improved hospital services and building connections when moving to different areas.
Their professional network and resources have been invaluable.
Chartered member, Kehinde Yinka-Adebisi, advanced physiotherapy practitioner: 'When I moved to the UK from Nigeria, joining the CSP helped me navigate a new healthcare system and continue my professional development.
The CSP has been essential in keeping me up to date with the latest research and developments, through Frontline magazine, the Physiotherapy Journal, and various training programmes.
My membership has also connected me with a professional network that has supported my career growth.
Associate member, Claire McIntire, therapy assistant, Gateshead Health NHS Trust: 'I joined the CSP as an associate member last year, and when CSP staff visited our hospital to recruit stewards and safety reps, I was curious.
'My first question was, "Is this role only for qualified staff?" To my delight, I learned that all CSP members, regardless of level, can become stewards or reps. I immediately decided to step into the role to represent associates and assistants at my trust.
We previously lacked representation, and I felt it was crucial - especially in today’s financial climate, with cost-of-living concerns and other workplace challenges.
Student member, Matthew Stephens, Wrexham University: 'I became a CSP member to learn more about physiotherapy and take advantage of the opportunities available to students.
After joining, I became a CSP student representative for my course, which helped me develop leadership and communication skills - essential for a physiotherapist.
'I’m proud to be part of a growing organisation that improves the lives of thousands across the UK.'
