CSP trade union organiser David Nichol said: ‘Belfast Pride is the biggest event of the year for LGBTQIA+ people of Belfast and beyond. With thousands in attendance, it was great to see the CSP alongside other trade unions embrace the celebration and atmosphere.’

Bernie McGreevy, senior physiotherapist in South Eastern Trust and chair of the CSP Northern Ireland board, said: ‘We were marching in this protest to support our LGBTQIA+ members in what was our first participation in Belfast Pride to highlight the difficulties and inequalities that these staff face'.

The atmosphere in Belfast and the crowds were amazing. There was a real buzz about the city

'During the event, I enjoyed meeting other members of the CSP and hearing their stories. This is just the beginning of the CSP’s involvement in Pride Belfast and I hope it continues to get bigger and bolder.’

David said: ‘We also want to thank our colleagues from the Fire Brigades Union in Northern Ireland who transported some of our party on their fire appliance’.

The CSP will also attend the Foyle Pride Parade in Derry/Londonderry on 24 August as part of the Foyle Pride Festival.
