Course Introduction

Chronic conditions are the most common cause of death globally, and one of the major health challenges of the 21st century. There is convincing research evidence that Tai Chi is effective in prevention, rehabilitation and management of chronic conditions. Over 30 randomised control trials demonstrated that Tai Chi significantly improved clinical symptoms, functional abilities, and the quality of life of patients with chronic conditions.

©The Clinical Tai Chi for Rehabilitation Programme is an evidence translation programme for rehabilitation and management of chronic conditions in healthcare, community and residential settings. Based on compelling research evidence, informed by exercise science and guided by exercise prescription principles and safety guidelines, the Clinical Tai Chi for Rehabilitation Programme is designed to improve clinical symptoms and functional abilities, achieve health recovery, and regain independence and enhance the quality of life for patients with chronic conditions. The programme has eight forms with each form containing symmetrical movements targeting various chronic conditions.

This programme is easy to learn and practice. It is highly recommended for allied health care and exercise professionals involved in rehabilitation and management of chronic conditions. It is also highly recommended as a lifestyle intervention strategy for self-management of chronic conditions.
