CSP recommends that members accept Scottish government’s pay offer

Scottish members have until 9am on Monday 23 September to vote to accept or reject this offer.

The Scottish government has made a final offer of a 5.5 per cent pay increase for 2024/25 (consolidated), for Agenda for Change healthcare staff.  Pay setting for NHS Scotland is by direct negotiations, not by the pay review body process which has made recommendations for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

All health unions have agreed to consult with their members on the above-inflation offer. The CSP is consulting with Scottish members on whether to accept or reject the pay offer for 2024/25.

The CSP member-led pay sub-group reviewed the offer and are recommending Scottish members vote to accept the pay offer.

The recommendation to accept is based on the following:

  • The offer is above all current measures of inflation and therefore is a good step in the right direction.
  • The offer is an improvement on the Scottish government initial position and is considered the best that can be achieved through negotiation. It also matches the award in England for this year, which means overall Scottish pay points remain higher.

Claire Ronald, senior negotiating officer for Scotland said:

The voice of our members is important so we encourage you to have your say and let us know what you think.

While the CSP is recommending to accept the offer, we do understand that the cost of living crisis is still having an impact. Our longer term aim is to bring pay back to pre-austerity levels.

The consultation closes at 9am on Monday 23 September and then the outcome will be discussed with other health unions and taken forward to the Scottish government.

A final decision will be made based on the overall outcome from all health unions and will be shared with members as soon as possible.

If this offer is accepted by the health unions, it is expected that the pay rise will be in October pay packets.

To ensure we can contact members directly if necessary, all members should check their member information in particular their employer and workplace information and contact details, including the full postal address.
