Background to The Brain Charity

Life for any of us can change in an instant. Experiencing a road traffic accident, a major stroke or being diagnosed with dementia can happen completely unexpectedly and can change our lives forever.

The Brain Charity offers emotional support, practical help and social activities to anyone with a neurological condition and to their family, friends and carers.

Our recently opened Neuro Gym provides those with neurological conditions free access to specialist disability-friendly gym equipment and an encouraging environment to engage in exercise and wellbeing activities.

Role summary

We are looking for a Physiotherapist with experience of working with people living with neurological conditions. Working for The Brain Charity provides the potential to support our unique client group on a long-term basis. As the expert in your field, this is an exciting opportunity to shape our new physiotherapy offer from the outset and create a service tailored to meet the needs of our client group. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, designing personalised treatment plans, and delivering one-to-one and group physiotherapy sessions with gym users. You will be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and uphold professional standards.

Working in collaboration with our Gym Supervisor/Personal Trainer, you will support our clients to improve their physical and psychological health, balance and mobility through an integrated programme of therapy and exercise. This rewarding role will help our clients feel safe as they engage in programmes that will help them live well with their condition over the long term.

The Neuro Gym is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm with occasional late opening sessions planned. Delivery is on a freelance basis and as such we are open to flexible working discussions with candidates about how the 12 funded hours are spread across 2-5 days in the week.

Benefits of working for us in the Neuro Gym

  • Having autonomy to develop a flexible, client-centred service.
  • Flexible and bespoke approaches to management of people with long term conditions.
  • Annual training and conference budget to develop your neurophysiotherapy specialism.
  • Working in conjunction/closely with gym instructor.
  • Flexibility of working pattern, subject to mutual agreement.
  • Oversight and support from the Neuro Gym Steering Group.
  • Novel and interesting working environment.
  • Varied client group.
  • Free parking (when available) at Head Office, Norton Street, L3 8LR.
