An exciting role within the Hampshire Cricket & Southern Vipers Science & Medicine Department. The Senior Physiotherapist will provide physiotherapy support to Hampshire professional and pathway cricketers, with a specific focus towards injury rehabilitations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee the physiotherapy support towards injury rehabilitations of Hampshire professional and pathway cricketers.
- Lead and oversee the physiotherapy support towards Hampshire pathway cricketers.
- Lead the physiotherapy support towards specific professional squad matches and training, and support Southern Vipers programmes as required.
- Work with other Senior Physiotherapists, Senior Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and the Chief Medical Officer to update and report availability status of players to Head of Science and Medicine.
- Work with the Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach to communicate with medical teams of international and franchise teams regarding the medical needs, physical preparation and on going status of Hampshire cricketers.
- Line manage Pathway Physiotherapists and Student Physiotherapists in their contribution to our pathway programmes, as well as their professional development.
- Continuously develop injury prevention systems and practices and integrate these within the wider Sports Science and Medicine programme, including GPS, and other external and internal load strategies.
- Continually seek to develop the Long-Term Athlete Development Model, ensuring alignment to current evidence-driven best practice and clinical/practical reasoning.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP)
- Current advanced trauma management and emergency care accreditation (or ability to complete this in the near future if successful)
- Extensive experience of working in professional team sport, preferably within Cricket, including a comprehensive understanding of cricket injury and performance requirements
- Demonstrable high-quality physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation skills
- Demonstrable effective diagnostic/clinical decision-making skills
- Knowledge of injury surveillance and workload monitoring methods
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Full Driver’s license and use of vehicle
Desirable
- Experience working with female or youth athletes
- Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine or related disciplines
