CSP members employed by the NHS in Scotland have become the first to receive formal ballots over NHS pay.
CSP Council believes we have reached the point where only industrial action is likely to make a difference, and is recommending members 'vote yes' in favour of strike action, and also for other action short of a strike.
The Scotland vote is open to 31 October, and the postal ballots must be returned in good time before that date.
With all unions moving to industrial action ballots the Scottish government is indicating a willingness to restart the talks on pay - but this makes it even more important that we keep the pressure up and get a strong yes vote in the industrial action ballot.
We are organising meetings in each health board area - please speak to your stewards about when your meeting will be held. If you cannot attend a meeting and have any questions please email
Key actions for members in Scotland
- Vote! If you haven’t received your ballot paper by the end of Friday 7 October and are employed in the NHS under Agenda for Change terms and conditions, ring 0207 306 6666 or email payscotland@csp.org.uk You will need to confirm your member number, your employer and workplace and your address.
- Read our FAQs about the ballot and potential industrial action.
- Download and display print at home and digital artwork to support the pay ballot. Use #CSP4FairPay on social media.
Meanwhile, members working for Health & Social Care Northern Ireland should have received an email invite for our consultative survey, which also opened this week and runs to 24 October.
If you are unable to access your vote or are aware of colleagues who are employed in the HSC and have not received this, ask them to contact enquiries@csp.org.uk or telephone 0207 306 6666. Talk to your CSP steward about upcoming virtual workplace meetings, where we will discuss the pay situation with members across Northern Ireland.
In England and Wales the CSP is coordinating with other health unions and continues to prepare a formal industrial ballot which will open in early November. This comes after members overwhelmingly rejected the NHS pay awards in our consultative surveys.
Print at home artwork and virtual workplace meetings to discuss the ballot will be offered to members in the coming weeks.
