The Trinity Laban Health Clinic and its therapists specialise in the assessment and treatment of Performing Artists. All of our therapists have a particular interest in performing artists’ injuries and injury prevention, and many have had first-hand experience of being a performing artist or have worked with performing artists for many years, gaining vast experience in the field. Our range of therapies aim to support dancers, musicians, actors and musical theatre performers in training, and working professionals, using specialist knowledge of the specific demands placed upon the body, and appropriate techniques to prevent or aid in the rehabilitation from an injury.



We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist with a passion for the performing arts to join our specialist team to provide a high standard of physical support to our students and our clients. Key responsibilities and duties

  • Providing physiotherapy assessments, diagnosis, treatments and formulating home exercise programmes to a wide range of clients. Our main client base is performing artists.
  • To use evidence-based practise and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clients’ rehabilitation and return to training. 
  • Carrying out Triage assessments for students presenting with new injuries
  • Completing full and comprehensive patient notes in line with professional standards
  • Writing reports and letters for students seeking modifications to training or assessment deferrals due to injury

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Hold an Undergraduate (BSc) or postgraduate (MSc) qualification in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Healthcare Professionals Council (HCPC)
  • Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)

Desirable

  • Studio based teaching qualifications i.e. Mat or Equipment based Pilates, Yoga etc.
  • An enhanced certificate with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), or a willingness to obtain one

Experience

  • At least 5 years clinical experience
  • 2-3 years of experience working with dancers, performing artists or other performance athletes
  • Experience of working in private physiotherapy practice
  • Experience teaching Remedial/rehabilitation based group classes 

Knowledge and understanding

  • An understanding of the needs of performing artists in professional training in higher education institutions
  • A knowledge and understanding of the common injury types and aetiologies in dance and other performing arts domains
  • To be competent in using a wide variety of physiotherapy assessment techniques and skills

Skills and personal qualities

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • An ability to build and maintain rapport with students and clients
  • The ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Contract:                            

Freelance, room rental contract. 30%(+VAT) of client fees will be payable to Trinity Laban on a monthly basis. All practitioners are issued with a License to Occupy Contract, which will be renewed in August each year.

Hours:                                 

The therapist should be able to commit their services for 1-2 days per week, ideally Monday and Wednesday. Hours are negotiable but should have some consistency across a term.

Start date: late June/early July with the aim of increasing hours at the start of the next academic year (September 2022).
