To support the development and delivery of a new pre-registration MSc Physiotherapy, the School of Sport, Health, and Exercise Science is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and committed individual to a 0.8 fte Senior Lectureship position in Physiotherapy. The School is within the Faculty of Science and Health and is hopeful of continued success in the forthcoming REF2021, ranks amongst the leading Sport and Exercise Science providers in the UK, and has consistently boasted excellent student satisfaction.

 

As a Senior Lecturer, the successful candidate will make a significant contribution to teaching, assessment, and research activities for the course and be situated in the Physical Activity, Health, and Rehabilitation theme. In addition to holding a PhD (or equivalent professional research experience) candidates will be a registered Practitioner Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council, and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals who can evidence broad experience across clinical practice settings, generate and support placement activities, deliver and develop our curriculum pathways, lead and publish high quality research, and where appropriate, engage in income generation activities.

 

Current ongoing research projects include biomechanical measures of rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery, exercise testing and clinical physiology relating to chronic diseases, and socio-ecological approaches to health promotion, wellness and the prevention of chronic diseases. The practical skills and techniques that you bring should complement our existing strengths through your own specialist knowledge and previous teaching experience is essential along with a strong team-focused ethos.

 

School of Sport, Health, and Exercise Science

The school comprises ~35 academic staff, ~950 Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught/research students. Recent investments have supported our student learning experiences, research environment, and estate developments to extend beyond the current accommodation within the Spinnaker Building; as per the estate space for Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation activities. The school features excellent human analysis facilities including motion capture, force, EMG and isokinetic dynamometry, a suite of environmental chambers, and access to clinical teaching and simulation facilities through the Faculty of Science and Health.
