Band 8a Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner – MSK Primary Care

Various hours up to full time . 37.5 hours

We have an exciting opportunity in Hywel Dda University Health Board with the development of a new Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner role within the County of Ceredigion. This post will support the development of the MSK pathway by working alongside GPs and MDT’s in the primary care setting. It will support a cluster of GP practices in the South of the County including Bro Pedr Medical Group, Cardigan Health Centre, Meddygfa Emlyn, Llynyfran Surgery and Newquay Surgery

The University Health Board is working towards developing a fully integrated pathway and as part of this vision, the post holder will be required to work closely with existing core MSK physiotherapy and Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment Services (CMATS). It will provide an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of physiotherapy practice, to develop strong clinical networks with primary care teams and to streamline pathways of care for our patients.

The successful candidate will support the development of this new service providing leadership and clinical service delivery. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has proven leadership skills and experience working at extended scope or advanced practice levels. MSc level training is essential. Full time hours are preferable. However, we will consider other combinations of working hours as part of job share arrangements if that supports full delivery of the required service.

The University Health Board proactively supports post graduate training and also other forms of internal /external CPD. We have a strong and established clinical team of experienced MSK Advanced practitioners and Clinical Specialists working within primary care and CMATS, who link regularly with orthopaedic and tertiary consultant led MDTs. There will be a linked governance structure between this new primary care role and existing services to ensure the development of integration/ strong networks.
