Vacancy details

Are you interested in becoming part of the physiotherapy team at the brand-new Balfour Hospital

on the wonderful Orkney Isles? We are looking for a forward-thinking physiotherapist with highly

developed musculoskeletal skills to join our team.

The Orkney Isles are located approximately 6 miles of the northern tip of Scotland and are well connected to the UK mainland with air and sea links. A very welcoming, diverse and vibrant community of approximately 20,000 people is spread over Orkney mainland and surrounding islands. Orkney offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools and leisure facilities, unique wildlife and the most amazing scenery where traffic jams are a thing of the past.

The successful applicant will become part of NHS Orkney’s physiotherapy team and provide highly specialist MSK assessment and treatment within the hospital and GP Surgery’s across mainland Orkney. There may be the potential to develop (if required) to Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner level and work within the First Contact Physiotherapy service, where you will independently assess, plan and manage the care of MSK patients who would traditionally be seen by a GP, working within and beyond the recognised scope of Physiotherapy practice. There is also the potential to develop and work within the Rheumatology service. We encourage innovation and the use of technology to develop services across our remote and rural landscape.

You will work as an autonomous practitioner with primarily a MSK caseload although, with working in a remote and rural setting, it helps to be flexible and have good generalist skills. Having non-medical prescribing and injection qualifications would be an advantage but not essential, as training may be offered to develop these areas of practice.

Part time applicants will be considered.

Either of the following are happy to have an informal chat about any questions you have about the job, the move and Orkney itself.
