Contract:                Fixed-Term 1 year with possibility of being made permanent

Band:                      Based on Band 6 (£25,940 - £35,143 per annum pro rata)

Hours:                     22.5 – 30 hours per week (negotiable- 22.5 hours in Childrens with possibility of 7.5 hours contributing to Adult Services)

ROLE

The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary palliative care team within the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.  He/she will carry out all duties associated with the provision of therapy including the undertaking of physiotherapy assessment, treatment and review of children with life limiting or life threatening conditions, many of whom will have associated complex healthcare needs.  He/she will contribute to the development, supervision and governance of children’s palliative care physiotherapy across the children’s hospice sites. He/she will contribute and where appropriate lead on projects, teaching initiatives and research and will be responsible for their own personal and professional development through liaison with the Head of Children’s Hospice Services, Care Team Manager and colleagues.  He/she will take a lead role in the moving and handling training for care team staff and other staff groups as appropriate.

It is essential that candidates meet the following criteria;

* a Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy and Current registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC)/ Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

* 3 years post graduate experience including 2 years’ experience in the last 5 years in the field of caring for children with life limiting conditions or complex healthcare needs, or with respiratory needs including children reliant on ventilatory support.

*  Experience in Aquatic Therapy.
