John Cowman, CSP chief executive said:

'Being an anti-racist organisation is essential for the future of the profession. At the CSP we're continuing to actively challenge racism and drive forward change in physiotherapy in order to remove the systemic barriers that enable it.

We're calling on our members to ask themselves how can they make an impact in their workplace and support those who may be facing discrimination.

The CSP is currently contributing to work the TUC is doing to develop a ‘tackling the far right’ strategy and with a range of other professional bodies and unions looking at how we challenge this on social media and online spaces.

There is continued focus on supporting internationally educated members and to recruit internationally educated physios to ensure they enjoy the support and benefits of being a CSP member.

CSP workplace reps, supported by staff, are promoting race equality and addressing discrimination in the workplace alongside CSP equality reps which have now become a permanent union role for members.

We are continuing to influence through the TUC Black Workers’ conference and its anti-racism taskforce to make a wider impact on society and government.

CSP staff and workplace reps are working with the CSP BAME network to improve outcomes for members experiencing race discrimination and employment issues at work.

During Race Equality Week, 3-9 February, we are calling on our members to take action and ensure your workplace is anti-racist. #EveryActionCounts
