An optional additional Criminal Defence Insurance (CDI) product is now available for CSP members.
The CSP has been working for some time to secure the provision of an optional additional CDI scheme for members, following the recent withdrawal of the existing product brokered through James Hallam.
The CSP has been aware that a number of members were affected by this change and remained keen to continue to have the option to purchase additional CDI cover.
The CSP is pleased to announce that Philip Williams and Co Insurance Management are now offering a legal expenses insurance policy for members of the CSP as part of its range of group affinity policies.
Cover provisions
The legal expenses insurance provides cover for criminal prosecution defence costs, up to policy limits subject to policy terms and conditions. In addition the scheme also provides other covers including jury service expenses, something which particularly concerns some members in independent practice.
Full details and application form
Members who currently hold an existing CDI policy through Philip Williams and Co will be upgraded to the new policy at their renewal point.
'We have managed to broker an excellent policy with some additional benefits at a very reasonable price,' said Jim Fahie, CSP assistant director of employment relations and union services.
CSP professional adviser Pip White added:
Not all CSP members need separate criminal defence insurance, but we know that many like the reassurance it offers them.
