Health Education England has confirmed the new guidance regarding completion dates for the roadmap for advanced practice and first contact physiotherapy.
HEE has published a statement with the updated deadlines after taking feedback from the CSP and other stakeholders that members may struggle to meet the existing April 2022 deadline due to pressures caused by the pandemic.
The new guidance stipulates that Stage 1 must be completed with a portfolio of evidence and verified before employment in primary care. For those already working in primary care this can be completed retrospectively
It also states that best practice for Stage 2 is that ‘this should be completed within six months for a full-time member of staff but this can be longer provided a completion date is agreed with the employer’.
Abi Henderson, head of FCP implementation at the CSP, said: ‘This confirmation will be welcome news to many members who are working under extreme pressure and told us they needed greater flexibility in order to complete the roadmap.
'We’re grateful to HEE for taking on board our feedback and making this change, which will ultimately help ensure the roadmap is successful in its aim to deliver quality standards in primary care.
We’d urge all members to complete the roadmap as soon as they can and contribute to this vision for the sector
