Specialist physio Emma Smith is turning pelvic health awareness into a fun night out with the promise of prosecco.
The Prosecco and Pelvic Floor charity event takes place on 18 September in Bath. It will focus on motherhood and the injuries that can be sustained in childbirth, with the aim of avoiding problems that can show up later in life.
‘I see people post-operatively who say, “if only they had seen me earlier …” This is intended as prehab – to show women how to prevent problems that can result from childbirth, such as pelvic pain, incontinence and sexual dysfunction,’ said Ms Smith, who is a pelvic pain specialist at Royal United Hospitals (RUH), Bath.
‘The events are meant to be fun to get people’s attention, not serious or negative, and there will be quizzes and raffles to fundraise for our therapies building at RUH and the Therapies Matters Campaign,’ she added.
Prosecco and Pelvic Floor (#proseccoandpelvicfloor) takes place at Macdonald Bath Spa. Ms Smith will also be running a Women’s Wellness workshop in Bath on 27 September, accompanied by prosecco.
