Ms Moses is a consultant physiotherapist in respiratory at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She is also a council member of the British Thoracic Society, co-chair of Home Mechanical Ventilation UK and a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Respiratory Care.
She told Frontline:‘These awards are one of the most prestigious in the healthcare sector and even to be shortlisted is a massive achievement, not only for me as a physiotherapist but also the wider group of allied health professionals.
‘As a profession, we work tirelessly to promote our unique contribution across patient pathways at both clinical and academic level.
‘So if this nomination goes any way to promoting physiotherapists and allied health professionals and the incredible role we have in improving patient care and outcome, then I already feel like a winner.’
Inspirational
Her colleagues, respiratory consultant Aash Vyas and clinical nurse specialist Samantha Wood, nominated her for the HSJ award.
Ms Wood said: ‘Rachael absolutely deserves this nomination. She has always gone above and beyond for any patient she has dealings with and is a truly inspirational manager, colleague and mentor.
Dr Vyas added: ‘Rachael has had an amazing impact on improving care and new ways of working not only for this trust, our region but also on the national and international stage as well.’
Health Star
Earlier in the year Ms Moses was a runner-up in the Hospital Health Star category of ITV’s Good Morning Britain Health Star Awards.
But she believes the recognition she has received would not have been possible without the support of her colleagues.
‘I am inspired by so many of my colleagues who all deserve recognition. I may have been nominated in a sole category but without an amazing multidisciplinary team I would never have achieved what I have in my career,’ she said.
The winners of the HSJ Awards will be announced on 22 November.
