Apprentices are employees who ‘earn while they learn’. Apprentices combine on-the-job training and experience with off-the-job learning.
The society is supportive of all Physiotherapy apprenticeships, for support workers, pre-registration, and post-graduate development.

Pre-registration apprenticeships
A BSc degree apprenticeship is a route that allows you to work as an apprentice in a physiotherapy setting, as well as study at university to complete your BSc Physiotherapy programme.
Advanced clinical practitioner apprenticeship
The advanced clinical practitioner apprenticeship is another route that registered physiotherapists can use to develop their career. It is underpinned by an MSc in advanced clinical practice and provides an opportunity for experienced clinicians to be supported to develop into advanced practice roles.
CSP position statement and guidance on apprenticeships
The society broadly welcomes the development of apprenticeships for the physiotherapy workforce. However, this is subject to gaining assurance and confidence that apprenticeships relating to physiotherapy fulfil a number of key principles.
