Pensions
On 21 September 2007 NHS Employers and trade unions announced details of the new NHS pension scheme arrangements, due to come into effect from 1 April 2008.
The arrangements are the results of four years of negotiations. One of the key features is that CSP members and other colleagues working in the NHS will benefit from a final salary pension.
Phil Gray, CSP Chief Executive, welcoming the announcement of the new arrangements said:
"To have held on to the final salary scheme with the same retirement age of 60 for existing members, with an improved rate of 60ths for new staff joining the NHS (with retirement at 65) is a huge success for our members against the odds."
