Move for Health campaign
Move for Health encourages people to improve their health and wellbeing by increasing their levels of physical activity with regular exercise.
Physiotherapists recommend that adults exercise at moderate intensity for 30 minutes, 5 times a week, and that children are physically active for an hour every day.
If you don't have time for a 30 minute session of exercise each day, it may suit you better to break it up into three or four smaller chunks. Just being a little more active throughout the day can benefit your health.
Is Move for Health for me?
All of us can benefit from being more active and building a little more exercise into our daily lives. Physical activity can help you prevent or manage over 20 medical conditions, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, back pain, osteoarthritis and depression.
You can download free copies of our Move for Health leaflets, packed with simple, professional advice:
- Fit for Work - if you're suffering from health problems that seem to be aggravated at work, physios can help.
- Easy Exercise Guide - a little a day, the easy way. Physiotherapists explain how you can build easy, effective exercise into your daily routine.
- Fit for the Future - physiotherapists and dietitians help you keep your children active and eating healthily.
You can also order bulk copies of Move for Health leaflets.

The main focus of the CSP's Move for Health campaign during 2010 is Fit for Work.
Employment plays a big part in keeping you healthy - just going out to work is good for you, both physically and mentally.
Many people spend a large proportion of their time at work. It's common to feel too busy doing your job to take the time to consider how it impacts on your health.
Common causes of sickness absence include musculoskeletal conditions, such as lower back pain, and feeling pressurised, anxious or low in mood.
If you're suffering from health problems that seem to be aggravated at work, physios can help.
Move for Health Kids
Last year, the CSP's Move for Health campaign focused on the benefits of physical activity for children.
For Move for Health Kids, the CSP has worked in partnership with the British Dietetic Association (BDA). In September 2009, 'Healthy School Day' events were held across the UK, with chartered physiotherapists and dieticians going into primary schools together to give advice to teachers, parents, carers and children on exercise and healthy eating for kids. The CSP is working on further Healthy School Day events this summer.
