1.0 LRC Terms and Conditions for Lending Services
- The following terms and conditions apply to your use of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Learning Resource Centre (LRC) services.
If you use any of the services offered to you as a member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or whilst you are working for The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy you are deemed to have agreed to:
- abide by all of the following Terms and Conditions together with any amendments thereto (all are non-negotiable) and
- pay any sums incurred whilst using the services
2.0 Lending services
2.1 All members of the CSP and those working for the CSP may use this service unless their rights have been suspended.
- A 'user' is a registered library member for whom we have an email and residential or work address; this will be drawn from the membership database. In the case of those working for the CSP the address will either be their work address or their residential address for home workers.
- It is the responsibility of the user to ensure their current contact address and email is on the library database (via the membership system). The primary means of communication between the LRC system and users will be email. It is therefore important that we have up-to-date details. Failure to provide up-to-date contact details may lead to the suspension of rights.
2.4 The term 'item' refers to any library materials that are designated as available for loan. Some materials will not be available for normal loan to ensure the LRC can provide material to visitors, to meet photocopying requests and for reference purposes.
2.5 The number of items that may be borrowed at any one time is dependent on a user’s LRC membership status. (Details in Section 3)
2.6 The loan period is normally 4 weeks from the date of issue unless there is a reservation on the item by another user in which case the loan will be 2 weeks. If an item already on loan is subsequently reserved, the loan period will be reduced to 2 weeks for the existing user. Reserved items will not be renewable and must be returned promptly.
2.7 CSP Information Staff have the right to revise the status of any item, to vary the loan periods as and when appropriate and to modify borrowing rights.
2.8 CSP Information Staff may suggest a photocopy, within the terms and the current legislation on copyright, instead of a loan if, in their judgement, a loan may cause damage or loss or the item is too heavy to send.
2.9 Where a postal loan has been requested the user will be charged for both outward and return postage according to rates that will be advertised. Items weighing 2000gms and over will not be available for postal loan. A prepaid return address label will be included with all postal loans. We reserve the right to not despatch items to an address other than the registered address.

2.10 Any damage to, or non-arrival of, the item on the outward journey should be notified to the CSP staff as soon as practicable. When returning the item by post the user is responsible for the safe packaging of the item. Any damage to, or loss, sustained in the post when returning an item will be the responsibility of the user. ‘Damage’ includes the use of highlighting pens and marking the pages.
2.11 Reservations and renewals may be made via the My Account option in the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) depending on the status of the item in question. Assuming there is no reservation and depending on member status, a limited number of unseen renewals (renewal online) may be made before it must be returned.
2.12 It is the responsibility of the user to monitor their transactions through the My Account option in the OPAC.
2.13 Users who pass borrowed items to another person remain responsible for that loan and any penalties incurred if it is not returned by the due date, if it is lost or is damaged.
2.14 Failure to return, loss of, or damage to an item or part of an item will result in a charge to cover the cost of replacement of the whole item together with associated administration charges. (Details section 4). Borrowing rights may be suspended until charges due are paid.
2.15 Payment of the charge for a lost or damaged item is not considered a purchase. Recovered items remain the property of the CSP.
2.16 We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a user’s access to the services without prior notice if he/she is in breach of any of these Terms and Conditions or any updated Terms and Conditions that we may introduce. Any such suspension or termination of the service shall be without prejudice to:
- any claim the CSP has against you or
- any sums then due or payable;
- any other items on loan to you.

4.0 Charges for loss or damage:
4.1 Failure to return an item after a sequence of overdue or recall notices have been sent to the user, or if the item is lost or damaged, will result in a charge being levied. Failure to pay charges incurred will lead to the suspension of borrowing rights.
4.1.1The charge will be the current cost of replacement to the CSP, or if out of print, the cost of a near equivalent publication plus an administration charge of £20.00. The minimum charge will be £15.00 plus the administration charge of £20.00. If the item is subsequently returned we will cancel the replacement charge, but we will still require payment of the administrative charge.
4.1.2 Where members are paying fees by monthly Direct Debit the charge will be made to their Direct Debit. Members who pay their fees annually or who are in a membership group that does not pay fees (e.g. life members or honorary members) will be invoiced following notification.
Remember : By logging in you will be deemed to have read and accepted the terms and conditions of this service.
