Library and information services
The CSP Library and Information Service (LIS) exists to support members in their evidence-based practice, to assist their professional education and continuing professional development and to contribute to their research. Non-members are welcome to use services but should be aware that charges may vary.
A team of qualified and experienced library and information professionals work in the LIS and are available to assist with solving your information problems. See below for details about:
The collection
The collection consists of material to support research, continuing professional development and evidence-based practice of CSP members. It is available for consultation within the LRC or for photocopying within the limits and rules set out in the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 amended 2003.
The strengths of the collection are:
- A comprehensive range of journals, relating to physiotherapy and rehabilitation, as well as key medical, allied health and nursing titles. A good range of journals from international physiotherapy professional bodies, and some foreign language physiotherapy journal titles are also held
- a collection of books, reports, government documents, and 'grey literature' (i.e. hard to find or 'unpublished' works) covering all aspects of work undertaken by the breadth of the CSP membership
- a good range of clinical guidelines, and standards from other physiotherapy professional bodies around the world
- conference proceedings from physiotherapy meetings around the world
- a complete set of current CSP publications
- an excellent collection of CSP Clinical and Occupational Interest Group books, reports, guidelines, and leaflets
- the majority of newsletters and journals produced by CSP Clinical and Occupational Interest Groups
- and a unique collection of Theses and Dissertations related to physiotherapy.

- Information about journals contained within the CSP collection, as well as links to electronic journals where available
- Photocopying service (journal articles and book chapters). We have a commercial copyright licence if the copying you are requesting will be used in a the production of a commercial product.
- Range of tailored Information Papers on a variety of subjects relating to the information needs of members.

Service Standards
- General enquiries received by post, e-mail fax or telephone will be answered within 5 working days, however, the majority will be answered either the same day or the next working day.
- Literature searches - results emailed or posted within 10 working days from receipt of the search request form
- Photocopy requests from CSP collection -articles dispatched within 3 working days of receipt of the copyright declaration form & payment or a completed payments form. See Copying services
- Photocopy requests for items not held in the CSP collection – the order for these items will be placed within 3 working days from receipt of the copyright declaration form and completed payment form. We cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date for externally acquired copies.

This paper has contact details for a range of video suppliers who distribute media relevant to physiotherapy.
LIS10 - Rehabilitation equipment suppliers (2007)
Contact details and product overview for a number of rehabilitation equipment suppliers.
LIS11 - Where to send donations of physiotherapy related books, Journals and Other Material (2007)
This paper has been compiled to help support the many requests for information received by the CSP each year regarding material that members would like to donate to charities or other institutions. The paper provides details of a number of organisations and individuals. It offers a choice of options where members can turn to for further advice.
LIS14 - Citation styles (2007)
This information paper gives guidance on referencing documents correctly. It outlines the Harvard and the Vancouver styles detailing how to cite a work within then text and how to set out the references at the end.
LIS15 CSP Guide to literature searching (2007)
The purpose of this publication is to provide information on how to conduct effective literature searches for physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and assistants. It also contains a number of useful websites related to physiotherapy. This information paper is only available to members. To see this documents members should log onto the site.
