Library and publications
The CSP Royal Charter of 1920 acknowledged the importance of providing a library to support the information needs of the membership. This was reinforced in the deed of the CSP Charitable Trust (1980) that said, amongst other things, the fund should be used:
"to establish and maintain at the principal premises of the Society a professional library which shall be available to all members of the Society all persons studying or conducting research into subjects relevant to the practice of physiotherapy and such other persons as the Trustees or the Council shall admit thereto"
The current CSP Library and Information Services' (LIS) objective is to provide access to, and support the development of, the evidence base underpinning physiotherapy. Physiotherapists in the NHS, physiotherapy assistants and students have local resources to which we act as backup; for practitioners in the private sector, not-for-profit organisations, private healthcare or overseas members together with anyone else with a legitimate interest in physiotherapy we operate as the primary Library and Information Service in the field in the United Kingdom.
