Professional liability insurance
All members who have paid the appropriate subscription (including students provided they are supervised by a suitably qualified physiotherapist) are covered by our professional liability insurance (PLI) scheme. The Society is presently revising its information on the scheme. Look out for more news shortly.Telephone advice
CSP membership gives you direct access to a wide range of experts through our telephone advice services. These are available from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday: call our Enquiry Handling Unit on 020 7306 6666.
Written advice
Complementing our telephone advice, the CSP produces a large number of factsheets and other documents which will often answer your query straight away or provide useful background information. CSP factsheets are available in the publications section of this web site.
Help in your workplace
If you work in the NHS a CSP local steward should be close to hand. If you work outside the NHS our growing network of independent sector stewards will be able to take care of your needs. Our 800-plus stewards act as the first point of call for members on the ground with workplace enquiries. Local stewards are backed up by their regional steward and ultimately the Society's team of senior negotiating officers. An equivalent team backs you up on workplace health and safety issues. The CSP prides itself on one of the best-trained steward and safety representative networks around. At a national level the Society is able to represent your interests in national pay negotiations and we hold important positions on national bodies such as the TUC. The CSP holds a seat on the TUC General Council where we exert influence far greater than our numbers would normally allow.
Peer group support
Wherever you work and in whatever specialty there will be a group of physiotherapists with similar interests, supported by the Society. There are some 50 clinical interest and occupational groups affiliated to the CSP and by becoming a member of the Society you will have access to membership of these groups. Each group provides its own unique support network, often organising workshops and conferences and offering newsletters and journals.
Many CSP members also belong to other, natural networks, each with own their own individual interests and needs - for example:
The member groups section of this site has dedicated sections for these constituencies - complementing the work of lead officers and targeted services based at the Society.
Frontline
Frontline provides the latest general health news as well as reports on new CSP member services. It is also the leading UK source for recruitment advertising in the profession.
Physiotherapy Journal
Physiotherapy Journal is the official journal of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. It publishes original scientific research, systematic or narrative reviews, educational, theoretical or debate articles, brief reports, case histories or single case studies.
A national voice in government, the media and the NHS
Making physiotherapy's voice heard in government, the Society is winning new friends amongst many politicians and policymakers. We respond on your behalf to all major government papers and are invited by many national bodies, such as parliamentary select committees and the Labour Party health policy commission, to give physiotherapists' point of view.
